I just watched a television add for Progressive. The insurance company is now extending coverage to your canine if it is in the car with you during an accident (notice they didn't say feline).

I'm torn between (1) this being a cool idea and (2) wondering how this will effect the rates of the other policy holders (I don't have Progressive).

Besides those two issues it also makes me think it's a bit sad that Progressive can extend its coverage to dogs and yet the following chart indicates the number of children in the United States (as of the last census - 2001) who are without health insurance:

That's not even taking into consideration the number of us who are busting our asses to make a living and still don't have benefits.

And yet, just this week Bush vetoed (for the second time) the latest revision of the CHIP program... maybe Bush and Progressive should hold a meeting...
