8:01 PM - My Super Awesome "Cool" Beauty Secret
Current mood: creative
I am sure that everyone I know will agree with me when I say it's miserably hot everywhere!
I've been threatening for a couple of months now to start a beauty blog. Unfortunately as soon as I said it out loud the universe handed me a load of work and not enough hours in the day. Today isn't much different than the last couple of months have been, but I was so excited at how well this worked I had to share it with everyone.
It's not a secret that I LOVE PEDICURES... love them... I can find a manicurist that will fit me in on a last minute notice in almost everytown that I've ever traveled through.
When it's hot my feet take an even bigger beating than usual (it's too hot to wear tennis shoes/clogs so high heels and sandals are the shoe d'jour). Unfortunately, that means that my feet are exposed for about 12-15 hours a day. Not only do they dry out, but they tend to ache - a lot. I've got the stuff to do a pedi at home (thank you Sally's Beauty!) but honestly after working for 9-10 hours before I get home the last thing I want to do is sit there and soak my feet and then deal with the cleanup. Not to mention, I just generally don't have that extra time in my day.
Enter my brilliant idea...
I'm a creature of habit. For me that generally means showers in the evening (especially during allergy season and when the temps are high a.k.a. sandal season). Some people do their best singing in the shower. Apparently, I do my best thinking in the shower.
The next time you're too tired to deal with your poor summer toes try this - start the water running; while your shower is 'heating' up stop the tub plug so that all that water gets caught in the tub (can you see where I'm going with this???); add your favorite foot soak to the tub; jump in; if you shower as quickly as I do by the time you're ready to rinse your shampoo out your feet will have soaked just long enough to feel some relief! Unstop the tub plug when you're ready to let the water drain. This is the point where if your drain is as slow as mine you'll still be standing in ankle high water by the time you've finished buffing your body and conditionning your hair :)
The benefits - soft, cool, clean feet!
Try it out - I promise you will not be sorry :)
