It's in the Eyes
I've always had that face... and those eyes.
You know the ones.
The combination of which seem to scream TELL ME YOUR LIFE STORY or at least whatever might be on your mind or upsetting you today.
Case in point:
Yesterday I worked retail as a fill-in for a boss over at a wine store. A nice elderly man came in with two women. Shortly after he arrived he informed me that all three of them were widows/widowers. Not two seconds later he dives right in to how he lost his wife (from ovarian cancer), how they would've been married for 46 years this last fall, and how when he gets back to North Carolina he will have to start radiology for his prostate cancer. I now know all of this information about this nice gentleman... and yet... I have no clue what his name is. Nor does he know mine. He just needed someone to tell. And I was there.
If nothing else it made me realize how lucky we have been this month that the pneumonia wasn't worse than what it was (although bad nonetheless... at least he survived!).
Sometimes I'm just in the right place.
At the right time.
