One of the most compassionate and caring women I have ever known about was Princess Diana. Being a child of the 80s I grew up with her in the spot light and tried to follow her lead by helping those around me and being more aware of the world I live in. It was a quality that Jim possessed as well and that I have tried my best to follow.
I was coming back from helping a woman move the contents of her upstairs to her downstairs, her downstairs to her upstairs, and fix the fencing in her backyard so that she could keep her daycare running when I took what would be the last phone call I would ever receive from Waddles. We both tried to live our lives by Princess Diana's quote, "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
Jim was notorious for wearing his heart on his sleeve. If he saw a need he would fill it. Without thinking, he'd give his shirt off of his back if it meant you wouldn't be cold. He lived his life for others first. Always and first most.
I hope that one day people can see how far stretching his compassion was. I hope that one day I can only be half the woman Princess Diana was. To have the grace, compassion, and strength to hold my head high through it all. To take the high road. I hope one day to be all the woman Jim knew I am.
Other great quotes from Princess Diana:
"If you find someone you love in your life, then hang on to that love."
"When you are happy you can forgive a great deal."
"I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that."
