I spent part of today downloading and editing through pictures of a friend's baby who happened to come into the world the day before Jim was taken from it. She is five weeks old now.
She is a beautiful and precious baby with parents who are very proud of her (as they rightfully should be). It was very touching to watch her first-time father hold her and interact with her. The loving look in his eyes and the light touch of his callused hands says more than he will probably ever be able to verbally tell his child.
I am excited for this family and their future.
And very sad at the same time.
It's a bitter sweet feeling.
To want so much for other people what you yourself can no longer have with someone.
To know that this photo could have just as easily been of one of Jim's daughters.
To know that now he'll never have that chance again.
Our future has been taken from us.
His hopes and dreams have been forced to come to an end.

Ah, Tara Ann, I'm about to have my bittersweet baby moment today too. My step daughter had her little boy and we are going to visit them. . . . It's going to be hard. My baby would have been born this month. Sometimes our future is not what we thought we were creating:S
Love the sweet picture. I hope I can take one half as nice of my grandbaby. (I know, I can't believe I'm a grandma.)
