Happy Halloween

Today has been a crazy hectic day between my appointment with the therapist and my meeting an old friend for lunch... the visit to the vet (they're fine... I just couldn't get their toenails clipped without some help and it was time)... and now running to get ready for the local trunk or treat (a concept that is still quite foreign to me... but all day long a memory has been coming in and out of my mind and I feel like I have to write it down before I forget... so that years from now when the kids do find this blog they'll have another memory of their father's... who knows... maybe right now as those that care for them snoop in daily, maybe, just maybe, they're sharing the happy stories with them... I like to hope so...

Anyway...

I keep thinking back a couple of years ago when Andrew dressed up as a puppy dog and Beth dressed up as a cat... Jim was so worried because Andrew was pass the point of dressing up as Jim called it "cutesy" and especially worried since not only was Andrew going as a cutesy animal but he had planned to dress along with his sister. Jim thought it courageous and realized how unique and special it was that Andrew was still so willing to share the spirit of Halloween with his younger sister, but he also knew how cruel kids are... and sure enough the kids were mean and Andrew came home half way through the trick-or-treating to change into something more "gruesome" ... and Jim was so excited that he had made the trip down there to be with the kids for Halloween... because he got to be there one of the times that his son needed him the most... and that... that meant the world to Jim.

I think that will forever be the Halloween I remember the most... the pride Jim expressed at his son's loving and giving nature was truly an amazing conversation... hopefully, you two will remember that Halloween too.
