I promised a few individuals that I would update as soon as I could function again... at the moment, I don't know that I'm quite to the functioning point I want to be at to write an intelligent post. So, here is a brief synopses of the last 48 hours give or take a couple of hours.
The verdict came in just before noon on Thursday... that's a whole post in and of itself... as is the 3 weeks of my stay down in Colorado... suffice it to say Andrew Tanner was found guilty of the original six (6) counts that the District Attorney's office had charged him with as well as the additional three (3) counts that his attorneys had added to the mix. I know, to a few that might sound odd... I think it was done in hopes of muddling the already complicated case. Unfortunately for them, it backfired and he was found guilty on a total of nine (9) counts. We'll find out in October just how many years this will mean. In the meantime, I know that the first felony count carries a lifetime without parole sentence. It will never bring Jim back. Never. But it will make certain that Andy Tanner, Kristin Durgan, and Brian Folsom will never be able to harm another person the way they did Jim. It will make sure that no other family has to suffer at their hands the way our family has this year.
Shortly after hearing the verdict we (we being my mother and me) packed up the hotel room we'd been staying in since the 12th of August and started on the road back to Star Valley. We got in about 2/3 a.m. I got back on the road at 9 a.m. to drive the 2 hours to Jackson and to head back into the office... worked a pretty close to full day... and drove the 2 hours back down to Star Valley to stay the weekend with my folks because my stepdad has a thing at their church that he's been asked to do and the significance of which is big to him and my mother so I'm hanging out here until late in the afternoon.
The original plan, of course, being to leave after the ceremony... as of last night I've discovered that I was R.S.V.P.ed for a trail ride on Monday so it looks like instead of going ahead and working on my paid day off I'll be on the back of Big Head Fred riding the old Indian trails somewhere in the other end of the Valley... you know they'll be another post just for that...
I'm exhausted. Emotionally. Physically. Mentally. Just thinking about all the stuff left to do in the next 48 hours makes me even more tired... not to mention... I'm ready for my own bed.

There is nothing like a good horse ride to fix what ails ya. At least for a moment. Hang in there. I'm so glad one more hurdle has been cleared for you.
I will admit... a GOOD horse ride will fix what ails ya... a ride with the Bedford men... will leave you more frazzled then fixed!
I took a couple of pictures and as soon as I can hold my head up to download them I'll be sure to post them... but for now... we rode from Strawberry Reservoir (about 2 miles down), to North Fork Lake, up behind Haystack, and straight... I mean STRAIGHT down White Creek and out Greys. At one point we had to come down the mountain off the horses and on our butts...
