The latest laughter in our shared story...

Jim: I stripped about 200 pounds of copper wire this weekend.
Me: Cool, that'll be nice to have some extra money. We can put it towards our vacation fund.
Jim: No kidding, it's going for $2.80 up per pound.
Me: Do you still have all your thumbs?
Jim: (snickers) Yes. Ha. Ha. You're funny.
Me: Well, you know it's not very cost efficient if you have to keep paying the E.R. docs to stitch your hand back up.
Jim: Yeah, I know, I learned that the last time... I think I earned a total of about $40 by the time I was done with the doctor bills...

Some days it's the little things... the small banter... the quiet laugh shared between the two of us. The part of our lives that no one else gets. The part we don't expect any one else to "get." Some days all I need is that little moment to make me remember that the world is okay.

*** To get the "joke" you should probably know that Jim has now sliced his thumb (nearly severed) twice in the last year. ***
