Or so the Greeks have said...
It's a saying that has been stuck in my head since I had the experience of holding a tiny finch in my hand this week. I'd let the dogs out for their evening outing and they began barking up a storm. Upon further investigation I found this little guy shivering in the barely above zero temperatures... so of course I had to bring him in... because I'm a sucker for the underdog...

Here he is sitting comfortably in my hand. Yes, I may be a sucker... but I'm also a bit of a germaphobe... so I grabbed a pair of latex gloves left over from Jim's pneumonia.
But he seemed to settle in to the warm towels after a bit. Here he is nestled into the towels next to the makeshift water bowl a/k/a my crystal ring holder.
And here he is in all his beautiful colorful glory.
Sadly, the little birdie didn't make it through the night.
However, his fleeting presence in my life for that one moment has left a lasting impression on me... because that one saying has been playing on loop in my mind for 4 days now... perhaps it's Jim's way of beating me over the head and telling me to quit being so damn stubborn... maybe it's all highly coincidental... I don't know anymore... but what I do know is that it's not often you get to hold a bird in your hand...

The bird liked you so I'll assume it was very intelligent. ;)
I'm not sure the bird had a choice...
Beautiful pictures of the bird. I loved catching up on your posts, I especially love the message from Jim. One of the many.
Thanks Teddy... for not only commenting, but reminding me of the messages I do receive from him... it's been one of those weeks where I've been struggling to remember his touch... so thank you.
